It's Maggie time!

Is she not the cutest!?! What a great smile, I love you Maggers!

This is Maggie on top of the world @ Snowbird, Maggie and Co. at Camp Abish (FUN Times), Maggs holding cutest baby Bridger, Maggies self portrait, and Happy Birthday to Maggie! (in the mountains during Killpack reunion, what a good sport)

Maggie, Maggie, Maggers, Mag Pie, Maggs,
that's her, the cutest, most adorable, kind and great person. I wanted to write a little about all of my kids individually, and so with the curse of being the 1st born comes the priveledge of being written about 1st. Maggie is my right arm. She is a rock that helps to keep this place running. I depend on her a ton, perhaps more than i should. She loves babies, and watching kids and boy is she good at getting all of her cousins occupied and doing something fun just in the nick of time, (meaning, just before parents go postal). Maggie is one of the brightest people I know, and more than just book smart. She can sense the unspoken, i.e. a friend is upset, or I am stressed out of my gourd, maybe someone just needs a compliment, she feels it and acts. Although she is book smart too. She is a great student, all of her teachers love her and she works really hard making sure she is doing her best. She is a voracious reader and gets in trouble sometimes because of the amount of reading she does. She is loving activity days and piano. She just got to pick her Christmas songs for the Christmas recital. (It really is coming.) She is great with Cole and Fisher and helps out alot with both of them. Hello built in babysitter! Maggie is a very good and loyal friend and enjoys her friends immensely. She has a great sense of humor and loves to tease. She loves to cook and sew, both of which I really need to help her do more often. Her testimony rocks, she is such an example to me and I thank you for that Maggs. I love your guts!

Do you see what I mean? Our family is growing up. Junior High is looming, (I am breathing in a paper bag). What cute kids though. They put up with alot from me. They are all so great and they make me laugh. They were such great sports about the forced photo session. We had to do it in about 20 minutes, fitting it in between haircuts, piano, dinner, and scouts. Nate is a genius and used his cymbol stand for the tri-pod, he's the best. You can't really tell in the picture against the bricks, we decided we would try not to smile, Nate and Fish just couldn't do it, what smilers. Remember the forget-me-nots, they are well worth remembering. Cheers

what the?

I don't know if you can tell here or not, but in my mind, our kids should be, oh, about this size. Fisher maybe still in diapers, Maggie turning 5 and starting Kindergarten, and Cole maybe 3 or 4. Reality has struck and this is not the case. Our family is growing up. No more diapers, no more bottles, no more all nighters with the babies. Fast forward 5-6 years. Maggie just shaved her legs for the 1st time and is in the 6th grade. What? How did that happen? Fisher just lost his 6th tooth & Cole keeps asking for an iPod touch. And to my chagrin, Cole has reminded me that Christmas is in about 90 days, which is bringing on an anxiety attack. So, there you have it, life just keeps going and little moments make up one big life. I need to keep reminding myself that yesterday is never coming back so i better make it worth the memory since that is all there is left of it . Maggie told me the other day that she went to meet Fisher by the flagpole where she picks him up after school and he wasn't there. She looked around and found him sitting under a tree with a girl. She made her way over to him and asked what he was doing. He just looked at her and said "Maggie, I am growing up now." I am o.k. with the sitting under the tree part, it's the growing up and the girl part I don't appreciate. I better jump on this train and hold on tight, it's going to fly by with the speed of a TGV and I am going to miss it if I'm not careful. Maybe I'll post some reality pics of the kids soon, that just means I'll have to take some.

Maggs came up the stairs this morning wishing us all a "Happy Last Day of Summer." And so the summer draws to an end. Bitter -Sweet. Bitter because we had some rocking times, with awesome family & friends, thanks guys. Sweet because we conquered scout camp, girls camp, oakcrest camp, trek, father's and sons, camp Abish, the ward campout, and we loved it all, (most of the time) and didn't even get admitted to the looney bin once. Not to let the door hit you on the way out or anything Summer but, HellOOOO, autumn. I welcome you with open arms, please, take off your coat and stay awhile. Please notice my favorite picture above, The Spencer Noses,(where is Neil for this foto?) Thank you grandpa Bus!

strange boat...strange shore...what?

Interesting to note & very shocking: Nate named our blog. I know, you would never guess it, but alas, c'est vrai. He really likes a band called the Waterboys, they're Irish, and Strange Boat is one of their songs. And really, "We're sailing in a strange boat, heading for a strange shore," really sums up our life. Enjoy the full lyrics.

STRANGE BOAT
We're sailing in a strange boat, heading for a strange shore
We're sailing in a strange boat, heading for a strange shore
We're carrying the strangest cargo
that was ever hauled aboard

We're sailing on a strange sea, blown by a strange wind
We're sailing on a strange sea, blown by a strange wind
We're carrying the strangest crew
that ever sinned

We're riding in a strange car
We're following a strange star
We're climbing on the strangest ladder
that was ever there to climb

We're living in a strange time, working for a strange goal
We're living in a strange time, working for a strange goal
We're turning flesh and body
into Soul

Hello,
I am not going to write much, other than, please stay a while and stare at the header of this blog.
It has only taken me two days to get it to work. I am so, so, techy. No, really, stare for a long time,
it will make me feel good.

So I don't know what i am doing, you may already have guessed that for yourselves,(Darci and Rachel, where are you?) but after much deliberation in my own mind i have decided to re-enter the blogging world. I won't be much for the next little while, since i am still figuring out what in the world I am doing and what i want this to be. Check back in a week or two. I do know however that this cute boy is one of the cutest i have ever seen. This is on Cole's baptism day.
